Hype Before The Game......
The Okie State Cowboys actually thought they can beat us this year. If they can’t beat us with Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas in the back field in the 80’s; What made them think they can beat us this year? Maybe they were all pumped up from the game last year where their defense made a fool out of our offense and left the offensive boys all confused and dazed. But that was 1998 and this is 1999. Remember, the last time they beat us, your truly is not even born yet. Since then, this guy had eaten many, many, many bowls of rice. Need I say more.
Quote of The Game.......
“They were concerned with stopping
the power game, so we went to passing, reverses and the options.
It’s got to make a defense think.” Nebraska QB, Eric
Crouch.
The Game....(Played on 9/25/99)
Oklahoma State (2-1) at Nebraska (4-0)

The score was 24-17. Two seconds left in the game clock. It’s 4th down and goal at the Nebraska’s 1 yard line. Oklahoma State had possession. It’s do or die for both teams. The Blackshirts were lined up on our own end zone. Oklahoma State Cowboys were stacked up on the line of scrimmage. A QB surge perhaps? The QB barked out the signal(Hut 1, Hut 2,....), the crowd were on their feet. Ball was snapped, and it’s a hand-off to their star running back, Nathan Simmons, who burnt us for ‘booko’ yards that night. He was on the way to our end zone. All of a sudden our very own Mike Minter(if my recollection serves me right) met him at the line of scrimmage and stopped him dead on his track. Nebraska squeaked by with another victory. Ooops.... sorry, that was last year game. I threw that out ‘cause it was one of the more exciting Nebraska vs Oklahoma State game in the series. This year outcome was pretty much decided in the 1st quarter. Our offense were having our ways with their defense. Our 1st TD came on a 4 yards run by our QB, Eric Crouch with 9:36 left in the 1st qtr. 2nd string I-Back, Correll Buckhalter chalked up the next 2 scores. The first one was a 2 yards run with 7:05 left in the 1st qtr. and the next one was a 8 yards run with 3:01 left to close out the qtr with a score of 21-0. 2nd qtr started with a 36 yards field goal by Josh Brown and Tracey Wistrom caught a 16 yards pass from Eric Crouch to close out the 2nd qtr. 3rd qtr started with a 6 yards run by 1st string I-Back, Dan Alexander. Okie State 1st score came on a 6 yards pass play from their QB with 6:08 left in the 3rd qtr. and the score was 38-7 at the end of the qtr. The only score on the 4th qtr was a 1 yard run by their tailback, Jamaal Fobbs. All the Cowboys score were against our 2nd string defense.
